Directions

The airport is located about 45 minutes by car from the city center.

Bus

The company responsible for passenger transportation is SAM. After leaving the arrivals hall, follow the main road and keep to the right-hand side. After approximately 100 meters you will find a bus stop. The ticket to Funchal is payable on board.

Taxi

The airport taxi rank is located outside the arrivals terminal and the cars are properly identified.

Rent-a-car

You can rent a car at the airport and follow the directions below to the city center:

At the exit of the airport look for the sign to VR1. Follow the VR 1 until Rua Ribeiro de João Gomes and take exit nº 12. This route takes about 13 minutes. Exit at Rua Luso Brasileira, follow Rua Pedro José de Ornelas, followed by Rua Alferes Veiga Pestana, Rua dos Ferreiros Estrada and Travessa das Capuchinhas to Rua Conselheiro José Silvestre Ribeiro.
